I’m such a fast thinker, I can almost every single time know exactly how someone is going to finish their sentence. I grew up in a environment where you had to think fast and have an automatic rebuttal: a behavior I took with me into my adult life and carried on to all the areas in my world. I naturally love to help others, even if it’s just by lending my ear, but realized I was taking what I wanted from the conversation and answering with my logic, based on what I was ready to say from the beginning. As a mother it cost me sadness and disappointments, as a significant other; rage and anger, as a friend overwhelmed with differences, and in my profession even enemies. I didn’t see the signs, or just ignored them. I was hearing (when I wasn’t daydreaming of something else) or caught up in my pre-meditated opinions; thought it was important to share how vital it is to REALLY LISTEN!
