Nutrition

Hi guys! It has been a while, and the last time I checked in was to share with you guys that I had finally gone back to school. When you take a semester off it also takes you a minute to catch up with the necessary schedule you must live in order to balance work, homework and sleep. I have the only bags under my eyes, but I know it will be worth it in the end. One of the classes I am taking is Nutrition, which in deep thought all I could tell myself is “God is good all the time”, because within grieving I was eating everything, numbing my feelings with food since I don’t drink nor go out, and I certainly needed a reality check, a real reminder of information not new to me, but we are always blinded by stress, depression, life ect. Anyhow, part of my homework was to watch a video on Youtube by Dr. Dean Ornish on Ted Talk explaining how we can reduce and even reverse many diseases like heart disease, cancer, obesity, diabetes, and depression by simply changing our diet and lifestyle. He spoke about how important it is for a human being to be connected not only with self, but with family, friends and their communities. Of course he went deep into so many details and studies against medication and antidepressants, and even shared his own personal experience of depression when he was in college which ignited his mission to the study the human body and our natural healing process. I needed to hear this and suggest you guys take the time to watch his speech. You know, I see all those funny memes on social media about new years resolutions about losing weight and many other things, which can be discouraging and isolate those suffering from even talking about such things, so I wanted to share my own challenges and realizations as motivation and inspiration to those quietly trying every day, keep going, fight the good fight in the daily challenge of exercising self-love. God Bless.
